Virtual conferences – facilitating worldwide scholarly cooperation through online technology

Conferences in general and academic conferences in particular, are usually designed to exchange information and up-to-date knowledge among academics, to present research findings and to facilitate meetings between colleagues. With the wide spread potential for communication over the internet, scientists and other professionals, like their counterparts in business, have begun establishing online meetings that bridge the divisions of place and time. Despite advantages of saving time and money, global time differences raise certain shortcomings. This article addresses several aspects of Virtual Conferences, including ways they can benefit teaching. In addition, we present examples for the successful management of these conferences.
