Not all students who begin their studies at a university are prepared to undertake such studies. There is a significant number among them who are not familiar with effective learning methods/strategies that are appropriate for a university framework, which utilizes different teaching methods than those to which they had been exposed in secondary school. The article identifies problems in the learning methods employed by new students and proposes a way to help such students. The method was formulated and tested by a mathematics professor at the University of California at Berkeley.
